Square firepit

Ivor Scott

Looking round stone yards is a great pleasure, there can be some amazing finds. In one, there were five sets of granite squaring off pieces, or maybe tree rings, with a circular hole at the centre. They had lain forgotten and ignored for months if not longer.

Measuring the centre, I realised that one of our steel liners would be an exact fit. And so, we now have a square firepit kit available with a round steel liner. Granite top is 800mm x 800mm square with a 500mm steel liner and usually 350mm tall although that can be altered.

Available at a reasonable price of £275.00 plus vat and delivery charge.

Special Offer!

When buying and cutting stone for firepits, it is difficult to judge exactly how much to buy because the handcraft element means there will be waste, some stones will have weaknesses that cannot be seen until you start working the stone and then crack! and start again.

In order to get over this I buy extra stone to allow for wastage. If I have been careful in cutting and all goes well, stone builds up and I seem to have been careful recently! There is enough stone to make a firepit but it does not all match because it has been bought at different times and even within the same quarry, stone can vary in colour and texture in different parts of the quarry.

I am offering a 800mm diameter firepit in the same quality grey sandstone that I use regularly. For the reasons above, there is some colour variation. Therefore I am reducing the retail price by £250, down from £545 to £295. This is a one-off but may be repeated as stone builds up after cutting. Get in touch if you wish to buy this special offer firepit which is similar to the model shown in the attached photo.

Spring is here!

Was out in the garden today. One of the few flowers in bloom was Hellebore. Pleased to say the flowers were covered in bees. Worker bees, haven't seen any Bumble bees yet. Warmer weather means more time outside and the clocks change tonight so light to 8pm. Yes! And longer time in the garden means if you have a feature like a firepit then you are going to be lighting it up and staying out into the dark. If you don't have a firepit on your patio then of course, this is the perfect time to install one....
